Happy Birthday...

Liam turned 3 years old today!
Rebekah had told him she would take him on a little field trip today (to go visit the snakes in her teachers classroom at the High School). She had gotten in the shower, and I was doing my hair and makeup upstairs in my bathroom. I had the doors open to my bathroom adn bedroom and could hear him downstaris watching a show, and making noises playing with this or that... Then I did my hair (turned on the blow dryer), I came imediately downstairs, and the front door was open... Liam (who has been trying to run away lately...), was comming back from the neighbors house on his little bike. YIKES!!!!!
I tried to get him to come home, but he had to go out and cross the street, and drag the bike up the driveway, and then take the 'ride' down teh sort of steep driveway! He loved it! Meanwhile... he had opened the door, and left the house!! At least he hadn't run off! He was just at the neighbors house, and I found him pretty quickly!

He has really gotten into his dinosaurs lately. He also has a favorite color - Green.
Rebekah had said we should get him new birthday clothes. I remember I had a few things in my closet that had been too big for him when I bought them. It just so happened that the one that fits him now, had his favoite thing on it... A GREEN Sharptooth!!!

Sometimes when you call him by some little extra name, son, or just a silly thing, he'll say, "No! I'm not son!" (or whatever other cutsey nick name you may have used) "I'm Liam boy!"

He loves to watch dinosaur movies - his favorite, The Land Before Time. (all 8 million versions..., no really there are only about 8 different one's. we rent them at the Library so we can swap out periodically, and I don't get so completely sick of them). He watches the movie's and has started imitating some of the scenes in the movies... particularly the 'fight' scenes. He has picked up that Long Necks (bracheosaurus, or something now-a-days, that used to be a Brontasaurus), fight off other dino's like sharp tooth, aka - Tyranasaurus Rex, with their long tail. So, he has been using his 'long neck' and using the tail to 'fight' off many other toys... we've been talking a lot about not 'hitting' with our toys, or using them as a bat or something like that.

The last couple of days, he'll stand with one dinosaur in his hand and hold them and fight in the air, as the 'fight' scenes are taking place on the movie... he really gets into his shows! sadly... (don't judge my parenting please ;-)

The girls had some cute little presents for Liam.
Hannah had a trip to Sci-Quest last week, and she had bought Liam two little Dino eggs. You put the egg in water, and it soaks up the water, and the Dino grows over a couple of days, and cracks the egg open and comes out of the egg. He thought the eggs were really cool, but I'm not sure he quite gets that it is going to take several days... before he sees the results of the dinosaur growing...

Marissa had this cute little Dino (dragon?) webkins type animal. She thougt Liam might ike it so she gave it to him (all wrapped with tissue paper in a gift bag). Very sweet and thoughtful!Bill had asked him what kind of cake he wanted: Chocolate :-)
Hannah and Marissa asked him what he wanted for his birthday and he said, Dinosaurs, flowers, and trains...
Well, today Rebekah stayed home and wanted to make the birthday cake (from scrath, so keep milk products out of it...). She made him cupcakes we were going to have tonight, but the girls had YW, and Marissa had Karate. So... Liam fell asleep before we could do cupcakes.
Shealso made this adorable Choo, Choo Train cake. We are saving it until tomorrow. (We had planned and now hope to go to Chuck E. Cheese. Liam loves that place, and f that makes him happy (if they havn'et closed it along with all the schools in the entire county, because they have two small children sick with something... and even though they were seen at outpatient clinics, and sent home to gt over whatever flu virus they have... we ar shutting down all the schools).

Happy Birthday Liam Boy!!! 3 years has just flown by!!!!

Lazy Sunday Afternoon...

We've all been a bit busy lately. Ball practices, games, births, playing Wii, work, school, field trips, etc... Needless to say, we haven't spent much time together as a family, rather than running someone here and there.

This afternoon we took a picnic to the park to eat and we had a lovely time. (thanks to the H family for their recent trip to downtown Madison for the inspiration).

Liam didn't eat much. He mostly just ran around... of course his favorite thing to do is run AWAY from anyone trying to 'catch' him. He ran across the street a time or two. At one point we said, don't go in the street! Dad told him to go look at the train tracks (he meant he could go up to that point and look through the fence). We are all sitting down, watching him and all of the sudden Liam flops down on his belly and goes UNDER the fence!!! He's now on the side with the tracks! Amanda was the quickest, and was able to get under the fence and retrieve him! She passed him back over the fence to Sariah. The other people nearby were laughing at all our crazy antics.

Amanda didn't want to go back under the fence as there was no IMEDIATE hurry any more, so she walked around. As she was about back to us, we heard the whistle of the train heading towards us. WoW! That was pretty close timing! I THINK Liam would have turned around and crawled right back under the fence in a hurry, with all the loud noise, etc. of the big scary train!

Later we found out he could just slip right between the bars of the fence... then, that Marissa, and Hannah (just barely) could also slip through the bars of the fence.

Liam also picked some flowers for me, For his sisters, for himself... he blew the dandy lions...

They all had fun playing in the Gazebo. They danced, and pretended they were in the Sound of Music... I am 16 going on 17...

Liam as usual, climbed on everything...

Later in the afternoon when it cooled down a little bit, we decided to take a walk (the kids rode scooters) through the neighborhood. Hannah (and possibly Marissa) thinks she wants to walk -or ride- to school, instead of taking the bus. So we sort of meandered that direction to see about how long it migth take them in the morning... with having to either wait for Liam, or to have to push him along on his scooter, or to have him walk, and one of us would end up having to carry or push the scooter, we took much longer than I'm sure they will in the morning by themselves.

After we walked to the school (across the street from the school) we went over to visit the H family to see their new baby! She sure is a cutie! Then we wandered through the neighborhood again, and finally ended up back home. We spent about 3 hours on our walk/visit. It ws a very pleasant way to spend our afternoon together as a family.

Tonight Sariah finished off the rest of her project. She had to make a totem pole for herself - each animal had to represent her in some way. I thought she did a great job.

The Miracle of life...

I have attended two births this week. Amazing! (I also taught a childbirth class, and have another mom due in a week)...

Every time I had one of my own babies, I remember looking at them all stretched out, and trying to truly conceptualize how on earth they could possibly have fit inside of my belly?!?!

Along with that, is this awesome new WHOLE little PERSON!!!!! It is a miracle! Every single time! I don't think I will ever stop being amazed at the process!

I look at that new little being, straight from GOD and Heaven... I just can not understand how anyone can not believe in Creation, and that anyone could seriously think that because of the big bang, and evolution... How can anyone imagine that all of the intricate parts that make up each and every one of us, was just happenstance? A coincidence... From every organ and every little eyelash and strand of hair, to fingernails, and the fact we have lungs that inhale and breathe and a heart that pumps blood and takes the oxygen that we breathe and takes it to every cell in our bodies so that we can grow and run and talk and breathe and sing, and be!!!!!

And all of this, can be made inside another human being/ a mommy, who grows a whole perfect person, that starts with just two little cells! WOW!!!! and the that each and ever species of animals on the planet all work essentially the same way, each after their own kind... and the bugs and the birds and the plants and trees and flowers and food... How can a person think that God in Heaven did not create all of that?!?! and that we were just an accident that happened?

Impossible!!!

And then the fact that after a person is created and grows, the amazing process that brings forth that life?! It is truly a miracle that can not be chance. The hormones and the chemical symphony that bring labor about, and the path that the baby takes to get to the outside. God created this amazing body to be able to do so much! And how the lungs intake air, and push the remaining liquid out and breathing begins, and the eyes open up and that sweet new little baby - again, a whole new being - looks into his mothers eyes!!!

Bliss.... Miracle of miracles...
