1st Hair cut!!!!

I NEVER thought I'd be one of those mom's who let her boy's hair grow out long... well, with Liam having such sweet little curls, I could NOT bear to cut it before now! Once I finally decided I should probably get it cut soon - a month or two ago, I thought perhaps we could hold out till his 2nd birthday the end of April... well, once dad heard we were going to get it cut, he wanted to take him to the barber shop on post. He wanted to wear his uniform and have Liam in the cute little camo shirt I'd bought him, at the military barber. However... he was leaving for a week! I told him he could do it the following week, before Easter - Bill was not so thrilled about the idea of having to put on his uniform while he was on leave, just to go get a hair cut! ;-) As it turned out, we were so busy building a room there was NO time for haircuts! Bill left the following week, so now that I really wanted to get the boys hair cut, we didn't even have a chance! I thought Bill was going to be gone the following week as well... but lucky for all of us, he's home this week! So bright and early Monday morning we went to the Barber shop!

Liam was not particularly happy, He watched Daddy get his hair cut, and seemed a bit concerned by it all. He didn't really like it when it was his turn, but he did sit pretty patiently, for a while... then he'd had enough! Unfortunately, he still had half of his head to go! The nice lady got him a lolly-pop and he settled down for a little while longer. Then when that had lost it's appeal, she handed him the big soft brush that they use to brush away all the stray hair after the hair cut. He liked that, and tried to help out! While he was getting his hair cut, the Andy Griffith show came on, after the opening whistle song, that caught his attention and made him quickly turn his head to watch, he pretty much ignored it. I thought it was pretty funny that in this picture I happened to get the t.v. in the background, and it is of Andy getting his hair cut at Floyd the Barber's!

We couldn't have planned that one!

When we first walked in he was a bit wary of the clippers that have a vacuum attached so it will suck the hair right up as it is cut. It is pretty noisy! By the end, when she used the clippers on him, she had taken the vacuum hose part off. then when she used the vacuum on him, he thought it was pretty cool and liked having his hair sucked up! At the end, he is checking out his new cool hair cut in the mirror! Isn't he handsome? My little man!

Here's a bunch of his little curls so I can put them in his scrapbook.

Liam had a pretty big day all in all. After the hair cuts, we shopped for a little while, then went to lunch for visiting teaching. We had a good time and ate some yummy food at Guadalajara (did I spell that right?).

As we were all leaving our friend L asked what we were doing this afternoon, I said helping her move stuff from her rental house to her new house? She said, thanks! We went over to load up our vehicles, and while we did that the boys played. Liam found a glove and put that on his one hand (no Michael Jackson pretenders here though!), grabbed a plunger since his little friend A had the shovel... and proceeded to play and try to dig with the plunger! Oh goodness!

Then while we moved stuff in to her new house, mostly into the garage, since a painter is coming tomorrow to paint the house, it didn't make sense to load up the rooms inside with stuff to have the painters paint around... the kids played (well, Liam actually had a nice little nap), after K got off the bus and Liam woke up. L was concerned that the kids might get bored while she moved stuff in and they had no toys really to speak of, she put up the bounce house that they have. So HOW COOL is that!?!?! when do you ever get to do something like that, in your house! (only if it's empty, I guess).

Then, when we came home this afternoon, he played Ball with his new bat and ball. He sure tried hard to hit the ball(s). He started out trying to hit them all on the ground and it was a bit more like golf! ;-)

On another note:
Sariah has had a school project or two this past week. They had to make World War 2 Propaganda posters. One an encouraging good one, and one a bad one. I think she's quite creative. I didn't get a finished picture of the bad one, so I hope she will bring it home after they are done with them. She painted it all dark and sinister, with big red eyes in the middle with flames of hatred in them... then in red (like dripping blood) she wrote: He's always just around the corner! I think she did a great job!

The other day I measured Sariah on our family measurement wall. I try really hard to be pretty accurate when I do this. I try to get the mark straight and not go up or down when I do it. First off we showed quite a bit of growth since Oct the last time we measured people. But I was curious if I'd gotten it right the next day, so I measured her again...I swear I did it well the first time, but if it was accurate, she grew almost an inch over night! Which I suppose is actually possible, but how coincidental to get the one day he was going to grow!

Poor Amanda who is just shorter than I am, hadn't grown at all since the last time, according to our measurements. Neither had I (at least not up!) the girls have me measuring just under 5' 5" and the last time we measured, Rebekah was at 5' 5" so that makes her taller than me! I drink tons of milk, calcium! HOW could I possibly have started shrinking!?!?!?!). Hannah and Marissa had both grown quite a bit as well, (Hannah even more than Marissa, I was happy to see she'd finally grown - she was the 2nd shortest child in her whole grade for a long time!).

And Liam of course had grown as well.

Sariah's room -

Yesterday while I was painting, Liam saw thsi little Rain Forest Biome project Sariah has saved from last year, and appearantly thought it needed some new animals... a few moer snakes, a polar bear (you see a lot of those in the rain forest, don't you know!), a Zebra, and a Horse. Then appearantly he needed someone to check it out, so Woody from A Toy Story joined the party! I thought it was pretty cute.
I finished painting it today, finally! Boy does it feel good to know I'm done painting! (Of course if I was being truthful, I 'ought' to paint all the trim that is anywhere near Liam's new room, so it matches. I think that might end up painting the whole upstairs! I know I need to paint the stairway, both the walls, and the trim. It gets a lot of rough wear and tear!

Bill got home this afternoon from his trip. He brought a few gifts home. He bought me a Christus statue a few years ago, but with the moves and what not, one of the hands broke off and I've glued it a couple of times, but it's still not the same. Also with the new shelves that Bill made it was a bit small for the space we put it in... so he brought me home a new one that is Marble instead of ceramic, and it is a bit larger and fills in the space a bit better. He suggested we make a wood block stand for it, and stain it, etc. to give it even a bit more height.

Then after I finished painting and cleaning up in Sariah's room he put together her new loft bed. It has a desk under it, and a few more parts, but it was getting late, and he wanted to let her (and her friend C.) settle in, plus he was tired, so... he got the bed itself put together but the desk, and shelf unit, etc will have to wait until tomorrow.

I LOVE how Sariah's walls turned out! Liam keep 'helping me' over the past few days while I painted. He tried to get the spots off the wall! I had to scrub off and repaint several of the zig zaggy lines and dots! or he'd climb on my back while I was trying to paint the one's near the floor and I was kneeling down low! Then he was the first to try out Sariah's new bed, and climbed up and down, up and down, up and down!!! What a crazy kid!

It's DONE!!!!

This morning we got up early to see dad and grandpa off to drive to D.C. After Liam and I had showered I wrapped him in a towel and sat him on my bed to watch his favorite show (Barney), while I got ready. When I checked on him, he was all slumped over. He had fallen asleep. I finished getting ready, and then I spackled the nail holes in the trim to get ready to paint it.

Here's his room. He walked in and the first thing he said was "BALL!" then proceded to get each ball and throw it up over his head... Then he went over to play with cars and the little people airport. (thanks M. for passing that along for him to play with).

I want to get some of those cute wall stickers of Spiderman, and perhaps do some artwork to hang on his wall with a Spider man theme.

O.K. I still have a yelow wall to paint in Sariah's room, and then when dad comes home Friday we'll have him put her bed together this weekend.

Happy Easter!!!!! (and yesterday's work)

Saturday: We had a long day of working on the room again. and then before I sent the kids for baths and bed, We died eggs... It was probably the most crazy time I've had over the years with dying eggs! The two big girls were out at Movie night (the last night of Spring Break), with a bunch of friends from church, so I had a little less help and CONTROL over the situation! Liam was grabbing eggs and literally THROWING them into the cups of Dye! Then he'd stir the eggs and dye in the cups like crazy, and if I wasn't right on top of him, he was drinking the dye from the spoon! Luckily it was yellow and not a dark color like Blue or Red, or Purple! Yikes! (I tried to keep the darker colors farther away from him at the other end of the table.)

Through the day we worked inside, I gave the walls a second coat of Blue paint, Bill painted the outside of Liam's wall, in the hallway the color of the hallway (we had to buy another gallon of that paint, since the paint we had left over from when we moved in 4 1/2 yrs ago... was dried up solid)! Amanda helped me paint all the trim and the door frames. Bill and his dad got the carpet pad down, Bill and I cut the rug, and then got that put in while his dad went to church.

Meanwhile, the kids played in the backyard, with Liam, (o.k., so I made them come home from the neighbors across the street, to help keep Liam occupied and OUT of the house - and out of the pans of Paint!!!) and they even had a little picnic lunch on the trampoline.

The guys hung the door in Liam's doorway, and got the trim all put in around the room. I did some touch up paint, and Wallah! we have a room! Now to decorate it! Actually I still need to fill nail holes and paint over that on the trim, but he is sleeping in his little bed in his room tonight. Yippeee!!!!! Of course he's asleep and I can't get a picture of his little bed in there until tomorrow...

You know you have teenagers in the house when your under two year old knows about camera phone's. Liam is holding my cell phone, and holding it up to 'take his picture'!!!
Here is Liam sitting in his room, with the door, on his nice carpet, playing with my cell phone.

********EASTER MORNING********
Here's Liam with his Easter bounty... can you say crack for kids? Man they were all wild today!!!

This is what it looks like when no one would open his candy for him! I really wanted Liam to eat SOMETHING for breakfast before he ate too much more candy! Finally he decided to eat some of Hannah's cereal.

Grandpa is going home in the morning. We will miss 'papa' as Liam has been calling him all week!

Bill has a trip this week to D.C. and New Jersey, so he and his dad are driving up together.
