She's Here!

M had her baby girl today. A beautiful big baby girl 8 lbs 14.5 oz. 20 1/2 in. at 12:17 p.m. She is currently Princess K. as mom hasn't decided on a name yet. She is sooooo cute! Fat little cheeks! She has rolls on her fat rolls, and a double chin, with a cleft! CUTE! CUTE! CUTE! I LOVE my job! Thanks M&J for letting me be there!
M is amazing! she did so great!
http://kilpatricksonline.com/default.aspx Update: She is Darci (what a cute name!)

Luckily for me, my Rebekah was sick and excused from school, so I had a sitter all day and didn't have to worry about Liam at all.

A Picture is worth 1000 words

I've REALLY got to figure out how to get my computers talking, or get Bill to work on it when he gets home from this trip (he flew to Orlando Sunday, Columbus, GA by way of Atlanta on Monday night, back to Orlando from GA two stops on Tuesday night, and last night was the only night he stayed in once place for two nights! He's flying home tonight (yay!). All I can say is YUCK! I would NOT want to repack my suitcase every day to go back and forth from the same place! and have meetings all day. This was definitely not one of his more fun trips!).

Back to my problem... I can't get pictures on my blog posts, and it is making me crazy! I have taken a bunch of pictures recently, almost for the express purpose of blogging (is that bad?! You guys have really brought me over to the dark side!) ;-) and here I sit, waiting for the opportunity to blog about that, Before I forget all the cute, funny, interesting things I was going to say about the pic's and I can't get pic's on here so it's almost not even worth it!
I tried to put a link to the post where Bill and I went to the Formal dinner last week, but looks rather boring to just read the long (obnoxiously long) rambling posts I make without the excitement of a picture or two to break up the nonsense! not to mention to catch someones eye to make then even want to read my blogs! ;-) (I'm feeling insecure here... ) I mean the great pic of Amanda on her birthday, eye catching, and the very bright spotted wall picture, that was awesome, it definitely caught my own eye, as I opened up my blog for the 10,000th time each day to see if someone had new had left me a comment... but these long posts with no visual stimulation! BORING!!!! I want pictures!!! I've got to get this worked out!

Bill came home and fixed things, so now I can do pic's... although, I can't figure out how to put them in the middle of the text so it goes with what it applies to.

Watch out!!!

Just kidding! Amanda is now on the roads of Alabama. She passed her drivers permit test today, so she has a year to learn to drive and gets to practice on mom and dad (until she gets into the Drivers Ed class next school year).
Amanda drove around the neighborhood today. She did a pretty good job, and unlike some of our friends, who drove into neighbors yards, or after driving only about 1 mile both mom and daughter were crying and daughter had her dad teach her, and never DROVE in a car with her mom again, until recently (she told us 12 or 13 years! I think). She said we were doing great! :-)
I did get a little nervous when we had to pass cars parked along the side of the road. She had a tendency to ride to the right side rather than be out in the middle. I thought for our first trip behind the wheel, she backed out of the garage, and drove around for about an hour, that she did a fantastic job!
On another note, Rebekah has been home since last Thursday. She caught the Flu! yucky! She has been just miserable! I took her to the Dr. on thurs last week, she had a fever of 103.7 and she was excused from school till monday. However by monday she still felt horrible, hadn't eaten hardly anything in 4 days, and could not have managed a day at school. she has also had laryngitis, and has not been able to talk in more than a whisper for days now (I've been teasing her... sorry sweetie!). Today I got her another appointment at the clinic on post. The FNP she saw gave her a note to stay home from school the rest of the week and return to school after spring break, so that she'd have time to rest and recover. In the time since she was there last week, she'd lost 4 lbs, and that was with eating more food in the past two days (so, she may have lost more and had started gaining some back). I hope no-one else gets it! I've been taking vit. C, echinecea, zink, elderberry, and Airborne, to try and prevent it from hitting me!

Nostalgia

While I looked for the picture of Bill and I all dressed up from our family web page (2003), I looked around at some of our old family photos. Wow! My kids have sure grown up a lot since we moved here! I looked at the pictures and got nostalgic and so I decided to do a post about that.
Life just moves so fast, and while you are living it, sometimes it feels slow, or it may feel like you'll never make it through a day, let alone a lifetime! I look back at some of those pictures, one of me with my little tree, since Bill was deployed for 6 months, and I couldn't' stand the thought of having to try to haul the big tree out of storage and set it up all by myself, so I bought this weird little woodland pine tree (complete with a bird house and bird of all things!) and put a few new ornaments on it, and that was our Christmas that year! And I'll tell you what, when I sent my husband off and wasn't even allowed to know where he went for a while, and knew I was all alone in a foreign country trying to stay sane and raise 5 kids all by myself! I didn't think I'd make it! tonight I sit here as my husband goes off for a week and I was thinking I was not going to be able to handle it, and then I guess this as good to look back and reflect on past years, and realize that if I could handle 6 months I can certainly handle 5 days! (o.k. so he'll be gone three of the next 4 weeks - home over spring break, and weekends, but gone three separate weeks), and that was getting me down, but in the grand scheme of things... even three weeks (if he were gone three weeks straight without coming home, it would still be less time than we've spent on several occasions! and truly), I have NOTHING to complain about, as many of my military friends have had multiple years of deployments and family separations, so I have been very lucky with my 5 month and 6 month deployments, and the 4 month and 5 month and 3 month and 1 month and two month training schools he's had to attend over the years.
I'm just a wimp, and I HATE mornings!!!!!!!! I am not a morning person, and never have been! and I've been very blessed that unless Bill is on a trip, or has an early meeting, he has allowed me with my sleepless nights to stay in bed and sleep, since Liam was born. Bill has gotten the girls all up and out of the house to school every day! I have gotten so lazy! So what that there were years of mornings when I had to do it all alone, and he left for work early, and came home late... I feel a bit like a slug, but if I am up at 7 am when they leave the house (not at 6 am when we have to wake the little girls, thank goodness the big girls get them selves up and ready for Seminary at 5:30 or so), but am so grateful for his willingness to deal with the morning madness! I am Not happy in the mornings, I don't deal with breakfast or making lunch well. My goal is to get them all up and supervise while they get ready, watch the clock and make sure they make it to the bus on time! If I do all of that, I feel good. Now if Liam actually sleeps through all of this madness, I feel even better, but either way it is a struggle for me.
As a matter of fact, it starts the night before! I get totally stressed that I am not going to hear the alarm clock, or that I've set it wrong, or some other dumb thing, so then I don't sleep well and keep waking up to check the clock and see what time it is so I know how much more time I have till I have to be out of bed and get them up! So, I'm exhausted from the mental and physical stress it puts on me, when Bill isn't home. I'm always afraid we'll all sleep in and they'll all be late for school. an it would totally all be MY fault! On top of that, then I'd have to leave the house - which requires a GREAT deal of bravery on my part, as I'm a very VAIN person, that's a whole other post, but for now, we'll suffice it to say, for me: leaving the house without completely getting showered, dressed, hair and make up done is a huge risk taking thing for me! so... I have to get them to the bus on time, so I don't have to 1- be fully awake yet, and just usher them out the door still wearing my pj's or a robe, and 2 - go in public looking scary!
There are some down sides, to me sleeping in, an Bill sending them to school. I have heard reports that one of my kid's hair had so many rats/knots that the kids were picking at her, and it was disrupting the class and the teacher actually helped brush her hair a couple of times! YIKES!!!!! what must that teacher and others think of me as the mother of this child!?!?!?! ugh! I'd never be happy letting her out of the house looking that way, with out at least brushing through the rats nest or hair! O.K. so the solution to that one was a shorter hair cut. I don't always get her to let me make it cute, and hope that cuteness part last a day or two, but... at least she can get a brush through it her own self!
Another down side to me sleeping in is... Dad doesn't usually notice all that much what they are wearing! so... all the cute clothes in their drawers and closets?!?!? nowhere to be seen! no, my child wore the same pair of over sized overalls (she loves overalls, and recently found a pair, she's not 'quite' big enough to fit into well, but she loves them so I've cinched the shoulders up as tight as they will possibly go, not that they are SUPPOSED to be cinched that tightly!, and they just HANG on her, but she LOVES them, so she wears them, if she can get away with it) 4 or 5 days in a row! with not even a CUTE t-shirt underneath, no! She has to pick the ugly over sized plain big box t-shirt or one's with weird labels, or log's on the front advertising silly things, but not a cute little t-shirt, that makes her look a bit more feminine! She has decided she's a tom-boy, and likes that look! Dirty ratty old overalls or jeans and a boring or weird no shape (well, o.k. that's not really true, they have a shape, it is a big SQUARE!), over sized t-shirt! hair not brushed!!!!! ugh! I just try not to look when she comes home from school some days to see what it is she's come up with to wear!

Well, this post didn't stay on topic, I don't think I added the link to our home page, I'll have to do that! it was the whole reason I got back on and did another post tonight! I should be sleeping, it is nearly midnight and I have to get up in 6 hours! YUCKY!!!!!!!
Bill hasn't updated our web page in about a year, but you know (those bloggers that live nearby, and I only have one blogger friend who isn't nearby currently - since I'm still new to this and don't even know if many of my friends have blogs or not), what my kids and family look like currently, but do you remember my kids being that small? that is if you even knew us at all that far back! They grow up so fast! ENJOY THIS TIME WITH YOUR BABIES, AND KIDS!

good night!

All Dressed up with places to go!

Friday night was the West Point Founders Day Dinner, and it was held at the new Davidson Center For Space Exploration at the Space and Rocket Center. http://thespacereview.com/article/1053/1

We got to get all dressed up, Bill in his Dress Blue Uniform and me in my fancy dress, and go to dinner and sit under the Saturn 5 Rocket. We had a West Point Alum Jeffrey Williams who is an astronaut as our guest speaker. He had some incredible pictures that he took from the International Space station where he spent 6 months. It was pretty incredible to hear about his experiences.

I'd love to post a picture of us, but... we didn't' take our camera with us, what was I thinking??? Obviously I wasn't! I did get a picture in my dress, but I don't' think we got one of Bill and I together. Even if I did, I don't think I'd be able to post it, since my laptop is not communicating with the main family computer where the camera downloads the pictures to...
Here is a picture of us (o.k. so you'll have to imagine the Saturn 5 Rocket over our heads, as this one was taken a couple of years ago (at the last formal evening we attended, in Washington D.C.), same outfits... yes I wore my fancy dress to two events! ) It is the only thing I could think of to get a picture of both of us together anyway... I hope this link will work.

Tag, Your'e It!

I saw this on Sharon's blog and thought I'd do it one day... so here it is.

How long have you been together? Just over 20 years, but Bill was one of my best friends for close to two years before that.
How long did you date? Well... if you ask my hubby, it was longer, but we didn't really "DATE" until after we were engaged! Weird I know! We were engaged just over a year, since he was a cadet at West Point and you can't be married while at West Point... soooo it was a long year waiting until we could get married!
How old is he? 40
Who eats more? I'd like to say him, he should be eating a huge number of calories to not lose weight now that he isn't supposed to eating carbs or sugar, that is very hard for him.
Who said "I love you" first? HIM! I was in serious denial! :-)
Who is taller? 6' 2 " and I used to be 5' 5", the girls think I'm shrinking since Rebekah measures at 5'5" and thinks she's taller than me! Amanda is catching up at 5'4" and Sariah will be past us all in another year I'm sure!
Who sings better? me, it did help him when we figured out he was a base not a tenor though.
Who is smarter? him
Who does the laundry? I do mostly, the older two girls do their own for the past couple of years, but I'm ALWAYS doing laundry, so I do a load or two or three daily. When he does them he does everything in one day and is 'done', but for me... there's ALWAYS more!!!
Who does the dishes? the older 4 girls each take a week. (it is not easy but that is supposed to be their job. Bill does them on Sunday so an empty sink gets turned over
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I do currently, but it depends on the house and room... he sleeps closest to the bathroom, since he gets up earlir than I do generally.
Who pays the bills? He does... unfortunately i just spend the money
Who mows the lawn? The kids like the riding lawnmower, otherwise Bill does it.
Who cooks dinner? me, one of the girls, Kellogs and General Mills, way too often! ;-) There was a time when Bill came home from living 5 months in the desert durring the Gulf War, that he was so thankful to have the ability to cook and wash clothes, without scrubbing them in a bucket of dirty water, that he did lots of laundry and LOTS of cooking! It was great! He cooked a braided strombolie bread one time for a labor day cookout shortly after he got home, in just over an hour, (o.k. prepared, then let raise on the way to the get together, and then put it in their oven.), It was fantastic! He didn't know bread should be difficult to make!
Who is more stubborn? I guess I should say me... Bill has had to give in to me and my emotional mess far too many times in our life together. Sorry Honey, but thanks, I love you!
Who kissed who first? He kissed me! Remember? I was in denial!
Who asked who out? He asked me to a formal dance, and if you really wanted to count that as our first date, then we dated about 3 1/2 months before we got engaged.
Who is more sensitive? He's very sensitive to certain things. Patriotic things, his kids, family. But I'm much more emotional. I don't know if that is sensitive or not. But otherwise it's me anyway.
Who has more friends? possibly me. I follow my friendships, and work at them, try to keep in touch. He can pick up with an old friend he hasn't talked to in YEARS and be totally cool.
Who has more siblings? I have 4 brothers, three older and one younger. Bill was raised as an only child, but actually has 6 older siblings from his mom's first marriage.
Who wears the pants in the relationship? I don't know... I don't like this question, and I plead the 5th.
Who are you tagging? Whoever wants sto answer all these silly questions. It did help me come up with a post today. I haven't felt like I had anything to post this week. So know you know some odd facts about me. Next time it will be that silly list of 100 things... Not like any of you will want to bother reading all of that!

Whew... that's over!

O.K. so, I was quite nervous to teach today. It has been several YEARS since I last taught Relief Society class... There was so much information on Preparedness, that I just didn't have time to talk about, that I wanted to share. I didn't have time to get more comments from others in the class about what they do 'easy steps' for others to follow. I hope that I was able to say something that helped at least one other sister. I need to move on to my next Food Storage item now that I got salt this past month. That food storage on $5.00 a week plan might take me a bit longer, I sort of feel like I need more than just one week to think about the actual item i need to get, and then I might actually remember to pick up that extra thing to add to my food storage. I am excited to start just doing something! I really feel like I need to work on BABY STEPS, like I said in my lesson today. I just need someone to hold my hand and lead me in the right direction. The idea of doing the whole years supply has always felt daunting to me... where do I start?!? I'll never be able to do all of that. But the Three Month Pantry seems way more DOable to me... Maybe everything I said today has been said countless other times in my life, but it just has never hit me before like it has hit me this past week (month) as I prepared for this lesson.

Well, since I was up till 3 a.m. the past two nights trying to get all my thoughts together for the lesson, I suppose I need to get some sleep tonight. Hopefully I'll be able to get some rest this week, so that whenever M goes into labor I'll have plenty of reserve energy to be able to help her in whatever ways will help her the most.
